Timothy Q. (Tim) Purdon was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate as North Dakota’s 18th U.S. Attorney on August 5, 2010.

As U.S. Attorney, Tim has placed special emphasis on the issues of increasing public safety in tribal communities in North Dakota and on national security and drug trafficking associated with North Dakota’s international border with Canada.  Tim serves on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee Native America Issues Subcommittee, (Chair, Cross-Deputization Working Group); Environmental Issues Working Group; and Border and Immigration Law Enforcement Subcommittee, (Co-Chair, Northern Border Working Group).

Prior to becoming U.S. Attorney, Tim practiced law at the Vogel Law Firm in Bismarck, North Dakota.  In 2007 and 2009, Tim was named a Great Plains “Super Lawyer” by Minnesota Law & Politics Magazine.  This honor was awarded to only the top five-percent of lawyers in North Dakota.  Prior to joining the Vogel Law Firm in 2005, Tim practiced for nine years at the Bismarck firm of Dickson & Purdon where he gained extensive jury trial experience in both criminal and civil cases. Prior to entering private practice, Tim clerked for the Hon. Bruce M. Van Sickle, United States District Court, District of North Dakota.  Tim is a graduate of the Hamline University School of Law (1994, Cum Laude ); Moorhead State University (1991, Summa Cum Laude ) and the North Dakota State College of Science (1989).
